Our Story
How One Simple Fishing Trip Changed Everything
I was never really into fishing.
Sure, my dad took me out a few times when I was a kid, but neither of us were what you'd call fishermen. It was more of a boredom cure than a real hobby. I never got hooked (pun intended).
Fast forward years later — I became a dad myself.
I’d watch my son sit around the apartment, glued to a screen, flipping between cartoons and YouTube. Even the playgrounds were boring — identical metal structures with tired parents scrolling their phones on benches.
Something in me clicked.
This wasn’t childhood.
This wasn’t how it was supposed to feel.
I didn’t want my son to grow up remembering iPads and soulless parks.
I wanted to show him something real.
So, one day I said:
“Let’s go fishing.”
My firstborn on his first fishing trip
First Cast, First Magic
We had an old fishing rod lying around. I bought a cheap second one — just a basic bottom rig. No fancy gear, no big plan.
A co-worker of mine, a passionate angler who loved kids, offered to take us out. She knew a good spot and was excited to share it.
That trip changed everything.
My son lit up.
He wasn't asking when we’d leave. He wasn't checking for Wi-Fi.
He was focused. Curious. Happy.
We caught a few small catfish. Some bluegill too. Nothing major — but to him, it was epic.
For days afterward, he wouldn’t stop talking about it.
Every sentence started with:
“Remember when we went fishing…?”
And That’s How It Began
Soon enough, we were learning together — watching videos, talking to other anglers, upgrading our gear. We picked up two feeder rods. Caught bigger fish. Started recognizing good spots.
We became regulars on the water.
Over time, our little team grew — my younger son got old enough to join us too.
And just like his brother, he fell in love with it.
Now the three of us head out together, each with our own rod and our own stories to tell.
My second son, already hooked
And now? Even when we go on summer vacation — the fishing rods come too.
It’s not a hobby anymore.
It’s our thing. Our bond. Our escape.
What We’ve Learned
You don’t need to be an expert to start. You become one along the way.
Nature connects us in ways the internet never will.
Sometimes, it takes one cast to build a lifetime memory.
Why We Started fish-room
That one fishing trip didn’t just change our weekends.
It changed how we lived.
That’s why we started fish-room.com — a small, family-owned brand that celebrates moments like these. Not just fishing, but spending time together. Laughing. Learning. Living.
If even one shirt or story inspires another parent to say:
“Hey kid, let’s go fishing,”
then it’s all worth it.
